Mitiamo - Terrick Terrick

Burke and Wills celebrations were held on Tuesday August 31 at Mitiamo Football ground. They were fortunate enough to have Ros Escott from Hobart come and give a talk as her great-great-great-grandfather was Dr Rowe who owned Terrick Terrick Station in 1860. She was supported by her relations, also descendants of Dr Rowe. From Mitiamo a tour went to Terrick Terrick station, where the Expedition camped 150 years ago (Camp 10).

John Davidson the president opened proceedings and welcomee Christine Brooke, the local shire councillor. Julie Smith from Cohuna (a story teller) gave her story, and this was followed by Ros Escott and Auzzi Fazzulla who was a drover and grew up with camels (he now lives at Dingee.) This was followed by the unveiling of the sign to be erected at Terrick Terrick Station by members of Ros’ family. Following afternoon tea the tour left for Terrick Terrick Station where many interesting stories were told.

East Loddon Historical Society along with the Lions Club conducted the day with soup and damper and the cup of tea or coffee. They were supported by children from East Loddon school and members of the public

A book was printed and is available by ordering from Judy Hocking $20 plus postage.
