The Melbourne Writers Festival teamed with the State Library of Victoria to mount an interesting and varied set of events during September as part of the 2010 Melbourne Writers Festival.
On Friday 3 September, Geoffrey Blainey gave the Burke and Wills Lecture, "On Discovery". The next day there was a performance by Ray Liversidge of his verse novel The Barrier Range.
On Sunday 5 September the first of two discussion sessions was held at the State Library of Victoria. Dr Clare Wright, Dr Chris McAuliffe, Alan Attwood and Ray Liversidge talked about The enduring legacy of Burke and Wills - how they have inspired art and writing for 150 years. Later that month on 30 September, Shane Carmody, Robyn Annear and Dave Phoenix participated in a second session titled Lost and Found: Relics of the Burke and Wills Expedition. Audiences found both sessions fascinating. |
